Tony Oursler
B 1957
Pioneering practitioner of modern-day mediumism, Tony Oursler is a multimedia artist whose uncanny and unsettling installations and sculptures reflect a lifetime fascination with the higher planes and their associated earthly rituals. Oursler’s astonishing archive of spiritualist photography and ephemera - Imponderable - was published in 2015. This collection of material on the supernatural, magical and unknown was inspired by his grandfather, a magician and friend of Harry Houdini. Collections include Hirshhorn Museum (Washington) and Centre Pompidou (Paris).
