Billy Ray Hussey

Billy Ray Hussey is an American ceramist known for his distinctive figural pottery. Raised in Seagrove, North Carolina, he began his career in his great-uncle's pottery shop, learning traditional techniques from a young age.
Hussey's practice involves creating earthenware and stoneware ceramics, often featuring whimsical animal figures such as lions, dogs, and bears. He operates his own pottery shop, where he continues to produce and sell his work.
His ceramics are held in institutional collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum (Washington, D.C.), The Mint Museum in Charlotte (North Carolina), and the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh (North Carolina). His work was featured in an exhibition at the American Folk Art Museum in New York (2005).
